The book starts off later in the summer. The first two words are “that summer” and a few pages later Manny says “school was starting soon” and school starts closer to the end of summer. I don’t know where the book takes exactly but I think it takes place in a America.

Manny faces a lot of problems every day, his family doesn’t a lot of money and his dad is unemployed and causes trouble. Also he gets bullied by the Garcias brothers. The main problem is for Manny is he wants people to respect but he wants to earn like everyone should, not by joining a gang.
